Partly Facetious: if only floods could be dammed
"Never heard that one before."
"What?"
"The Chosen One said that big dams or reservoirs would have saved the water that is being wasted during floods."
"That is indeed a novel way of looking at things. Does he realise the cost of big dams?"
"I am sure he has read the feasibility of big dams and even though the guy is no engineer he is supposed to be a banker who does understand costs and things like that."
"Cost in terms of building the dams, cost in terms of trying to raise money to build these big dams which may not be easy to access in spite of President Musharraf taking our country to fight the US war on terror, costs in terms of resettlement, cost in terms of inter-provincial discord and provincial discord with the federal government."
"No I don't think he has put a cost on those, but you know he says pretty much what his boss wants him to say."
"Well that is unfortunate. He should first study the problem prior to endorsing..."
"Hey you are talking of a banker turned politician by the army and..."
"Right what was I thinking. Anyway what about his proposal about reservoirs that would hold the flood water?"
"That seems interesting but the point is do you then build channels for irrigation, or pipes to a purification plant or what? And again the cost of it all."
"As I said before the guy is no engineer."
"By the way Nawaz Sharif has applied for his passport and everyone is saying that he may get it this time around. Apparently Musharraf has struck a deal with the Saudis - the purpose many argue of his most recent visit to the Kingdom."
"How come its always the Saudis who summon our leadership, why is it never the other way around."
"Why is it that Bush has only made four trips to Europe while poodle has made at least 10 if not more."
"OK, but the Saudis are no longer giving us any oil facility and..."
"And so what! I mean is Bush giving anything to Blair? He even said that there is no quid pro quo and that Blair did what he thought was in the interest of his nation while he, Bush, would do what he thought was in the interest of Americans."
"I sometimes wonder about the poodles of the world - roar like lions at home but miaow like cats with the true leaders of this world."
"Ah yes! Such is the world of international politics."
